Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using TrekBudget. By installing or using TrekBudget, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TrekBudget ("Service"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

TrekBudget is a Google Sheets add-on that enables users to:

• Connect bank accounts via GoCardless Open Banking API
• Import bank transactions and balances to Google Sheets
• Automatically fetch transaction data on a daily schedule
• Manage multiple bank account connections

3. User Requirements

3.1 Account Requirements

To use TrekBudget, you must have:

• A valid Google account
• Access to Google Sheets
• A GoCardless developer account with valid API credentials
• Bank accounts from institutions supported by GoCardless

3.2 Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate and complete information when using the Service and to keep this information up to date.

4. License Tiers

4.1 Free Tier

The Free tier allows connection of 1 requisition with full feature access.

4.2 Pro Tier

The Pro tier (€19/year) allows connection of up to 20 requisitions. Pro licenses are:

• Billed annually
• Subject to the pricing in effect at time of purchase
• Non-transferable between Google accounts
• Cancellable at any time with no refund for partial periods

5. User Responsibilities

5.1 GoCardless Credentials

You are responsible for:

• Obtaining and maintaining valid GoCardless API credentials
• Keeping your credentials secure and confidential
• All activity that occurs using your credentials

5.2 Bank Connections

You are responsible for:

• Ensuring you have authorization to connect bank accounts
• Renewing expired bank connections
• Complying with your bank's terms of service
• Understanding that connection durations are controlled by banks, not TrekBudget

5.3 Data Management

You are responsible for:

• Managing and securing data in your Google Sheets
• Backing up important financial data
• Controlling access to your Google Sheets
• Complying with applicable data protection laws

6. Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to:

• Use TrekBudget for any illegal purpose
• Connect bank accounts you do not own or have authorization to access
• Attempt to reverse engineer or modify the Service
• Use the Service to harm, harass, or violate the rights of others
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Use automated systems to access the Service beyond normal usage
• Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

7. Third-Party Services

7.1 GoCardless

TrekBudget relies on GoCardless for bank connectivity. You acknowledge that:

• GoCardless's terms and policies apply to their services
• TrekBudget is not responsible for GoCardless service availability
• Bank connection issues may be outside TrekBudget's control

7.2 Google Workspace

TrekBudget operates within Google Workspace and is subject to:

• Google's Terms of Service
• Google Workspace Marketplace policies
• Google Apps Script limitations and quotas

8. Intellectual Property

TrekBudget and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by TrekBudget and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TrekBudget from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use or misuse of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Unauthorized access to bank accounts

12. Service Availability

I strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted access to the Service
• Specific uptime percentages
• Compatibility with all banks or Google configurations

I may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with notice.

13. Data and Privacy

TrekBudget stores zero financial data on my servers. Your transaction data lives exclusively in your Google Sheets. See the Privacy Policy for complete details on data handling.

14. Modifications to Service

I reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue features at any time
• Change pricing with 30 days notice to existing customers
• Update these Terms with notice to users

15. Termination

15.1 By You

You may terminate your use of TrekBudget at any time by uninstalling the add-on.

15.2 By Me

I may suspend or terminate your access to TrekBudget if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
• Fail to pay for Pro tier services

15.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your access to TrekBudget will cease
• Data in your Google Sheets remains yours
• Refunds are subject to the Refund Policy (Section 16)

16. Refund Policy

Pro tier subscriptions are billed annually. I offer a generous refund policy:

• Within 60 days of purchase: Full refund for any reason - no questions asked
• After 60 days: Full refund available upon request (may ask for feedback to improve the service)
• Additional refunds as required by applicable law

To request a refund, contact support@trekbudget.com with your license key. I aim to process refund requests within 5-7 business days.

Note: A self-service refund portal is planned for future implementation to make this process even easier.

I provide:

• Email support for all users
• Priority support for Pro users
• Documentation and FAQs

I do not guarantee specific response times but aim to respond within 24-48 hours.

18. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

19. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Service should first be addressed through good faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes may be subject to binding arbitration or court proceedings as required by applicable law.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

21. Changes to Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. I will notify users of material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Displaying a notice within TrekBudget
• Sending email notifications to Pro users

Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
